Dr. Anne Griffiths is a paediatric gastroenterologist and clinician/investigator at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, where she co-leads the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre and holds the Northbridge Financial Corporation Chair in IBD. She is a Senior Associate Scientist in the Child Health and Evaluative Sciences Program of the SickKids Research Institute, and a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toronto. Her research interests have included paediatric IBD outcomes research and collaborations to elucidate the genetic basis of susceptibility to IBD in children. She is the Principal Investigator of the Canadian Children IBD network, which includes 12 pediatric IBD centers across Canada and is funded by the Ch.I.L.D. Foundation. She has been the Deputy Chair of the Gene environment microbe (GEM) study, led by Dr. Ken Croitoru and funded by Crohn’s and Colitis Canada and the Helmsley Foundation.
She is an Associate Editor of Journal of Crohn’s and Colitis, and a member of the International Organization for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IOIBD). As a former Director of the University of Toronto Pediatric Gastroenterology Training Program (1998-2003) and Head, Division of GI/Hepatology/Nutrition (2008-2015), Dr. Griffiths has mentored and trained many pediatric gastroenterologists, now clinician investigators engaged in IBD research across Canada and worldwide. She has authored over 300 peer reviewed publications, and has lectured widely internationally on paediatric IBD. Her contributions have been recognized with the 2019 Shwachman award of the North American Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition and a 2019 American Association of Gastroenterology Research Mentor Award.
