Francesco Blasi is Professor of Respiratory Medicine in the Department of Pathophysiology and Transplantation at the University of Milan, in Milan, Italy, as well as Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Respiratory and Lung Transplantation Unit at the Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico in Milan. He is also Director of the Adult Section of the Lombardia Regional Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Referral Centre in Milan.
Prof. Blasi’s research interests include pneumonia, chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, tuberculosis and non‐tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections, CF, and lung transplantation.
Prof. Blasi is a member of the Board of Directors of the University of Milan, and is, since 2019, Vice-President of the Italian Society of Cystic Fibrosis (SIFC). He is a Past President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS; 2012–2013), the Italian Respiratory Society (SIP; 2016–2017), and the SIP Research Centre (2017–2018). Prof. Blasi is Associate Editor for Pulmonary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Respiratory Research, and COPD. He has published more than 420 papers in international journals, and, as of January 2021, has h-indices of 54 (Web of Science), 63 (Scopus), and 76 (Google Scholar).
